The Best Beef & Ale Stew with Mustard Dumplings | Homemade Gordon Ramsay...

The soft and creamy beef stew recipe ever with Beef chunks, Carrots, Shallots and flavored by Ale or Beer. This stew recipe is so delicious to serve as is or pair it with backed potatoes, any types of breads, rice etc. The mustard dumplings will give you enough carb to serve for your lunch or dinner. This recipe is made, based on the recipe from the celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay. I did it step by step which will help you to prepare it with ease. Please share your valuable comments below. Ingredients: Oil: 4 Tbsp Beef Chunks: 1.4 Kg ( Made it for 12 servings) Plain Flour: 4 Tbsp Pepper: 1 tsp Carrot: 2 large Garlic: 6 cloves Shallot: 9 medium ( substitute is onion cubes) Thyme: 4 sprigs Bay leaves: 3 nos Ale /Beer: 500ml Beef Stock: 2 Cups Tomato Puree: 5 tsp Salt as required For the Dumplings: Self-rising flour: 2 Cups Suet: 150g Wholegrain mustard: 3 Tbsp Salt as required Garnish with Parsley Preparing the Beef and Ale Stew: 1. Preheat oven to 300F (150c) 2. To the beef chunks add flour, salt and pepper. Mix well. 3. Place a large pot (oven safe) over a medium heat and add the oil in it. When the oil is hot , add the beef and stir . Let it get cooked until it turns brown colored. 4. Add the carrots, garlic, thyme, shallots and bay leaves and stir for about 2 minutes. 5. Next pour in the ale and the beef stock and mix scrapping all the bits from the bottom. 6. Add the tomato puree. Mix well and cover with the lid. Boil for 2 minutes and bring to a simmer. 7. Place the pot in the preheated oven for 2.5 Hrs. For Mustard Dumplings: 8.To the self-rising flour add the suet, the whole grain mustard, salt and pepper as required. 9. Knead it into a soft dough 10. Roll the dough into medium balls 11. When the stew is ready remove it from the oven and place it on low heat to maintain the temperature. 12. Preheat the oven to 360F (180c ) 13. Add the dumplings to the stew 14. Replace the lid on the pot 15. Once again, place the pot in the oven and cook for 30 mins 16. When Stew with the Dumplings is ready, garnish with parsley The Beef and Ale Stew with Mustard Dumplings is best served with a combination of potato, rice or bread. Bad Chef: I failed to make this recipe properly in my first attempt. following are the learnings. - Make sure to boil for 2-3 minutes and bring to a simmer before keeping the pot in the oven. - Maintain the temperature same(simmer) when you add dumplings. - Add a teaspoon of corn flour incase the gravy is very light while adding the dumplings. - Don't change the pot while moving to the oven. - Add pepper in to the dumplings while making the dough for flavor.
